I clear the timer, set it up in Input Capture Mode, set the pre-scaler to ClkIO/1024, and enable Overflow interrupts, as the event I'm timing can take up to 10 seconds, which means the timer may overflow twice. I maintain a software count, in a uint32_t that is increment by 65536 every time an overflow occurs.

However, in scientific writing, the abbreviation for the units is always in the singular form – 5min, 5km, 5kg. It might therefore not be considered wrong to use singular forms of abbreviations with plural numbers.

What if the places are swapped, or some other combination? $$\max_B \min_A$$ Finally, can the min-max prefix appear for any sort of optimization problem, i.e. quadratic programming (convex optimization), linear programming, dynamic programming? How does it differ from "minimax"?
