WASHINGTON, Jan. 14, 2026 — The United States Mint (Mint) began shipping 2026 Semiquincentennial Circulating Coins, including the dime, half dollar, and the first of five quarter dollars, on January 5. In celebration of the Nation’s Semiquincentennial, for one year only, the United States Mint is redesigning most of our circulating coins.
Circulating coins are produced by the United States Mint for everyday transactions. They are also included in the United States Mint’s annual coin sets, which are the staple of coin collecting. The nickel, dime, and quarter are today's circulating denominations. As of 2025, pennies are no longer produced for circulation but can be found in collectible sets.
