Instead of "Lawrence" you want to find "Laurence". You know the trick: change 'Lawrence' in the sql_string to "Laurence" and assign the new string to the RowSource property of the Combo box. You only miss the Concat-function. I build it some 40 years ago (I think it was Access2) but still functional. Store it in a general module.
