Marcie / ˈmɑːrsi / [1] is a fictional character featured in the long-running syndicated daily and Sunday comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. Marcie is a studious girl who is sometimes depicted as being terrible at sports. She is friends with the tomboyish and athletic Peppermint Patty.
The friendship between Marcie and Peppermint Patty started off unassumingly; with Marcie calling Peppermint Patty "Sir" in the very beginning, and Peppermint Patty calling Marcie a "dorky kid" in response.
Though Marcie first appeared by name in 1971, a girl named Clara who bears a striking resemblance attended Camp Kamp with Peppermint Patty in 1968. "Marcie is one-up on Peppermint Patty in every way. She sees the truth of things, where it invariably escapes Patty. I like Marcie." —Charles M. Schulz.
Marcie fans are getting their moment in the sun—thought that’s not a place we nor Marcie would ever want to be—with the new Apple TV+ animated special One-of-a-Kind Marcie, premiering Friday....
With today’s Apple TV+ debut of ‘One-of-a-Kind Marcie,’ executive producer Craig Schulz and director Raymond S. Persi continue the franchise’s recent focus on lesser-known ‘Peanuts’ characters, this time in a charming, all-new story of the gang’s shy, kindhearted introvert who finally finds her own, unique way to help her friends.
Marcie is a major character of the Peanuts franchise. She is known for her modest tenderness and intelligence. Her bookishness is in contrast to her closest friend, the tomboy Peppermint Patty, whom she refers to as "sir" on a regular basis. This is just one of her many mispronunciations.
One-of-a-Kind Marcie follows Marcie, an introvert who loves her solitude but also enjoys helping her friends. As they train for the school golf championship, Marcie assists Peppermint Patty as her caddie, offering thoughtful and deliberate advice to help her win.
