MUA was Feb 12/21 Feb 26/21 (2 weeks post-MUA) extension was -10 and flexion was 100 March 25/21 (6 weeks post-MUA) extension was -12 and flexion was 107 The MUA was not as bad an experience for me as I had been lead to believe it would be. And, by the numbers above, it's safe to say it was a successful procedure. But, I am sinking emotionally.

The MUA ended up making my ROM worse and knee feeling like someone injected glue in my knee and my knee started making a clunking sound. Finally was told my knee cap wasn’t tracking correctly and was adhering to my implant. I had another surgery with scope for lysis of adhesions on 12-4-24 started PT the next day.

MUA is done if one’s range of motion (ROM) is very poor. However, it re-traumatizes the knee, so while you may get better ROM right away, swelling will set in and will reduce that new number a bit, until the knee settles down again. Some members see improvement after an MUA and some members don’t.
