Embraer ERJ 135 — regional jet airliner The ERJ 135 first flew in 1998 and entered service in 1999. It retained the basic fuselage cross-section of the ERJ 145 while reducing capacity. The aircraft was designed to compete in the 37-seat regional jet market.

In the early 1990s, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturing company Embraer began development of a new series of regional passenger jets named ERJ (Embraer Regional Jet).

Manufactured in Brazil by Brazilian multinational aerospace manufacturer Embraer the ERJ family (Embraer Regional Jet) consists of the ERJ135, ERJ140, and ERJ145 models. Competing for sales with the Embraer ERJ family was the Bombardier CRJ100/200 regional jets.
