Typically, 2 qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 added to 5.5 qts of a name brand 229.5 rated oil. I this last oil change the bulk (5 qts) was Valvoline Euro 5W-40. I know that some people will think that this method won't work, but I have seen several advantages of doing this so far.
So I don't think this will gain any friction (see what I did there?) but I thought I would post for your thoughts. Valvoline sued in class action alleging oil changes failed to meet vehicle specifications
Valvoline Restore and Protect (5w30) didn't seem to do much after 3 oil changes (around 12-14K miles on nothing but Valvoline Restore and Protect oil.) Changed the oil a few weeks ago and he has around 1200 miles on it (he had 2X longer trips last couple weeks) with a lot of highway miles. No oil loss. First time in a while.
Before switching to Valvoline Restore and Protect (5W-20), my car didn’t burn any oil at all. I was getting my oil changes done at the dealership, even though my car’s getting up there in years, I’ve always wanted it properly maintained by experienced professionals.
