Typically, 2 qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 added to 5.5 qts of a name brand 229.5 rated oil. I this last oil change the bulk (5 qts) was Valvoline Euro 5W-40. I know that some people will think that this method won't work, but I have seen several advantages of doing this so far.
As far as Valvoline Restore and Protect, it told me to run Valvoline Restore and Protect in my Tacoma for 3 intervals then go with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Mobil 1 ESP.
I hope Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC proves itself too. With how successful Valvoline Restore and Protect oil has been, I doubt Valvoline would put the Valvoline Restore and Protect label on something that isn’t on par with the oil. I wished I had a vehicle that was poorly maintained that I could do some before and after pictures.
Mobil 1 - 20k/year Valvoline Restore and Protect - OEM Highly unlikely Mobil 1 Advanced Clean can clean piston deposits. They used the Seq VH sludge test to make their claims. I'd expect the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean to clean up some varnish and other areas of engine but skeptical on piston deposits. Mobil 1 Advanced Clean is likely better at longer drains with stronger oxidation resistance ...
