The study is an attempt to examine and compare how metaphorical expressions of love are employed in the texts of English and in the Chinese literary texts.
Love is one of the most beautiful and precious emotions that human beings possess. No matter in the East or in the West, love has always been a hot topic for singers and composers. However, love is an abstract consciousness and it is hard to illustrate or explain.
This article adopts the conceptual metaphor theory as a framework by comparing the love metaphor in literary texts of Chinese and of English. All the expressions are taken from the texts of love poems in Chinese and in English respectively.
