YSL looks more practical and hard wearing and more comfortable handle. Aesthetically and quality still BV for me but you cannot go wrong with either. If you intend to use it without the strap the belted strao for BV is really annoying to remove and fasten. I really hate they don’t use a clip on fastening.
I'm definately getting a Tom Ford for YSL vibe from both: Brown leather and metal, prob from the Safari collection (S/S 2002) and the black velvet prob A/W 2002 (I have a black silk blouse from them that laces up the sleeves edged in velvet) Can't be certain though - I was more into clothes than bags in those days
TF joined YSL in 1999 when the Gucci Group (now Kering) bought the RTW label, got rid of Alber Elbaz* who served 3 seasons ('98 from Guy Laroche and later to Lanvin). TF was credited with turning round Gucci and was tasked to bring a lot of that sex-appeal to YSL. He was said to have left to pursue his own label - at least that was the official ...
Then we discover the YSL : Loulou and Enveloppe. And there is a very huge difference in terms of prices between YSL bags and Chanel bags. Is there any thing which explains this difference. Quality? Level of finitions? Would you advice me to pay 3 times more for that Chanel instead of the YSL? Anyway, which YSL model is the best seller?
YSL Lou. I'm not a bit fan of the Gucci Marmont line. And it seems that the Marmont collection has already dwindled in popularity.
