For many years Saba was known as a haven for Caribbean pirates, including the famous Hiram Beakes who once quipped “Dead men tell no tales”. Until well into the 20 th century, most men fished or sailed on Saban vessels all over the Caribbean. They brought much needed money to the local economy.
